Materials
- cotton yarn
- 3mm hook (depending on your yarn) - Gauge: 5sc * 5sc = 3.5cm * 3cm
- yarn needle
- optional: thread for embroidering
This pattern is really basic, first you crochet a rectangle in the size of your phone, then you make the sides and in the end you make the opening snug so that the phone doesn't all out. That's all :) Here are the steps in more detail.
Round 1: make enough chains for the width of your phone, one extra chain, turn
Round 2: sc in the 2nd chain from hook, sc in each ch
Round 3: ch1, turn, sc in each st
Round 4 - Round *: repeat Round 3 util you make a rectangle that covers the whole phone, but exactly. You don't want it to be much wider or longer. The best way to check it to place the phone on the rectangle, and you want to see just a little bit on each side
Now that you have the base, you can start with the sides. My phone is around 7-8mm wide, which I guess is pretty standard, so if your have a similar gauge, it should work out for you as well :)
Round 5: ch1, turn, sc in back loop only in each st (if possible) Don't make any extra stitches in the corner, just one sc in each st, sl st to join the round
Round 6: ch1, sc in each st around, sl st into the back loop of the 1st sc to join the round
Round 7: sl st in the back loop of each st, pull tight, leave a really long tail (3* the circumference oof the opening) and cut the yarn
Round 8: Now you want to sew through the slip stitches to make the cover really snug so that the phone wont fall out.
As an extra you can embroider something on the back. I used the logo of my favorite game.
I hope you will enjoy your new smartphone crochet cover :)
You can also add this pattern on Ravelry :)
You said repeat round 2 till it fits the phone well sc in the second stitch if each row makes this case get narrower every round
ReplyDeleteOh, thanks :) I must have forgotten Round 3: ch1, turn, sc in eacht st - I will correct it, thanks again :)

ReplyDeleteGreat case!
ReplyDeleteWhat about making a slight modification for the back phone camera?
Wouldn’t it be nice to use the phone camera without taking off the case off the back?
My phone is 6 inch screen
